I've currently got a 3000/768K plan in Santa Barbara (Verizon). I was looking at the upgrade options and noticed that the 5000/768K only shows as only available with PPPoE, why is this?

Most likely, that connection would require connecting you through a closer RT where we only have PPPoE available. Feel free to send me an IM with your account info, but I expect that to be the case.
