Re: Sonic Fusion in North San Jose?

I hope this is still on topic but are there any plans to extend the Fusion into the North San Jose area?

I already have Sonic internet but from my understanding, I have to keep my ATT phone line. I've downgraded my phoneline to bare minimum and would rather just cancel it but I can't since I recall that I have to keep it for my Sonic DSL connection. ATT constantly jacks up the price every year and its practically doubled

We're already built out into all of the Central Office telco exchange facilities in the area, but you must be served by a Remote Terminal (RT) facility. Sorry!

Can you elaborate on why a land line is required unless you are on a RT? I'm not seeing the correlation to having a dry loop.

@adobe.com

It appears that I am on a Remote Terminal Facility.

I get the following message when I enter my address:

quote:
Sorry! It looks like you aren't within range for Fusion
We are currently unable to provide you with Fusion because you are 5640 feet behind a remote terminal, which blocks the Fusion signal. You can still order traditional AT&T line-shared DSL service through us with a valid AT&T phone number - available products have been listed and highlighted below. We can also notify you if and when Fusion is available in your area.
DaneJasper, Do you know what is the minimum I need from AT&T in order to continue my DSL connection with Sonic? Just a phone number? I don't think AT&T would be much help if I asked them(they never were any help actually).

Thanks!

Yes, the minimum cost option would be Lifeline voice, if you qualify under that program. If not, then Measured Rate voice, with no features and no long distance carrier.

This would get you access to our AT&T line-shared ADSL1 products, offering speeds of 1.5, 3.0 and 6.0Mbps. This is not the Fusion product, it's standard DSL.
