1 edit | reply to heels_fan This BS started a week ago now. I can make my email client work with inbound.att.net but for my relative (whom I support) it will NOT work. Same exact email client, same settings.
ATT IS THE WORST COMPANY EVER. Who could break email? ATT could break email!
Knock knock! Who's there? AT&T breaking your email! AT&T breaking your email WHO? - WAIT why are you breaking my email??? Because SCREW YOU we're AT&T, and we FEEL like it. |

| This is where I am now....
I have "mail.bellsouth.net port 110...no connection security. I set my mail to download every 1 minute.
If I try to log in, you know the drill....
So I never request get mail and as soon mail hits their server, it downloads immediately. I suppose I can live with that, so long as I get my mail. Sending has never been a problem.
What really gets to me is that they blame my client, Thunderbird, for the problem. |

Some of these problems could be associated with the difficulties Yahoo has been having for the last couple of months, as discussed at » thenextweb.com/insider/2013/03/0···porting-hacking-incidents/ At least one person I know had his outgoing email blocked by Yahoo, after his account was hacked by the bad guys. |

| reply to burris Update..
I actually received a call from AT&T today. Nice young lady who was responding to a survey they sent regarding my last conversation with support. I told them in the survey that I found the rep to be very nice but did not give out accurate info and my email as well as countless others was not working.
Guess what....that's why she called. They have been getting complaints about the subject of this entire thread and they are aware of it and working to find out the problem. They were also mystified when people were telling them even though they got the log in error window, that they, and as I mentioned earlier, had their email downloaded as soon as it hit their servers so long as they had their account settings set correctly..
So regardless of what the support trickle down philosophy tells you, they are aware and working to solve the problem. |

This morning was the very first time I was able to hit get mail without the login error window appearing. The mail then downloaded.
Maybe! it's fixed for now.
Anyone else try it to see? |

Anyone else try it to see? I had been able to get around the authorization failure messages by just using inbound.att.net (AKA pop-att.mail.yahoo.com / pop-att.mail.am0.yahoodns.net), but I just tried telnet session tests for att.net and bellsouth.net email accounts using mail.bellsouth.net (which previously failed), and it seems to be working for me again.
