[SPOILERS] DragonBall Z: Battle of Gods - March 30th
This HD movie will be out in Japan with Japanese voice actors - but once the torrent community gets hold of it, you can be sure it will be subtitled in all major languages within a matter of weeks. I doubt you will hear a censored authorized English voice actor version for a good 6-9 Months below is a collection of the only actual new material available from this upcoming movie - so beware searching for more as most of it is fan produced and rehashed junk. I will keep an eye out for the full movie torrent search words and post more as soon as English subtitles become available. The events of Battle of Gods take place some years after the battle with Majin Buu, which determined the fate of the entire universe. Wiss, the God of Creation, along with Bills, the God of Destruction, are tasked with maintaining some sort of balance in the universe. After awakening from a long slumber, Bills is visited by Wiss and he learns that the galactic overlord Frieza has been defeated by a Super Saiyan from the North Quadrant of the universe named Goku, who is also a former student of the North Kai. Ecstatic over the new challenge, Goku ignores King Kai's advice and battles Bills, but he is easily overwhelmed and defeated. Bills leaves, but his eerie remark of "Is there nobody on Earth more worthy to destroy?" lingers on. Now it is up to the heroes to stop the God of Destruction before all is lost.
You may notice in this Manga Goku looks like a child - this is because in the original story line, Goku was accidentally transformed into a living child of his former self during a 7xBall dragon wish, so he had the mind, memories and powers of his adult life with the body of a child. Goku's grandchildren who were older looking than him, called Goku Grandpa - pretty confusing. For the movie they elected to portray him in his full adult body form, so it appears more consistent with previous DBZ Movies (not like the Dragon Ball GT series) and would be less confusing to any new or casual DBZ fan.

Personally, I like the Funi dub of DBZ over the original cast. I met the Japanese VA for Vegeta last year @ AWA, but I still think the dub is more bearable to the original. I never liked Goku's voice in the Japanese version. YMMV.
As for this, I'm looking forward to it, and will likely watch it once it's on the torrents. If this is a theater release, we won't see torrents of it (decent ones anyway) until the DVD/BDs come out, which is usually months off.

True. I can agree with that for DBZ. I can't stand the Japanese voice actors. The English dubs for DBZ, I would consider to be the exception.
But other anime, I almost always opt for the subs, as do the overwhelming majority of anime fans that I know and have met.
For example, the English dubs for Naruto suck! Don't like the dubs for Bleach either. Much prefer the Japanese voices with teh English subs for those, and plenty of other animes I've watched.

I'm in agreement with you there, but you just proved your statement wrong of "no self respecting anime fan would EVER go for dubs"
For the most part, I prefer subs as well, and I too don't like the dubs of Naruto or Bleach. Mainly because I've watched them long before they were picked up here. For DBZ, I saw the dub first, and only really looked at the subs later when I got a couple of the DVDs.
Outlaw Star is another example of liking the dub over the sub for me, it was very well done, and I saw the dub first. Same with Cowboy Bebop, and some others.

I agree with you 99.9%. My personal exception to this rule is Cowboy Bebop and maybe 3 or 4 others. I have close to 5TB of nothing but anime and maybe 25GB is dubbed.
if DSLR members wonder how this thread has 1000's hits per day, it's because Google has it on the first page of this movie search trust me... it was not intended - but i'll try to find and post what ever new public domain footage is around to here once each day.
I gotta say, I'm slightly disappointed. I would've thought that Super Saiyen God Mode would've had some variant look of SS3 or SS4 mode, or something completely different, since those two modes were DRAMATICALLY different from anything we'd seen before. Honestly, that just looks like a slightly different (although beefed-up) Kaio-ken.
this scene really bothers me... (1) with so much power between them Goku would never battle anywhere near a populated city and (2) if that God form had a time limit, neither of them would want to waste so much of it in conversation. this destroyer is not your typical enemy - he's just looking for a good fight and wants Goku at his peak for as long as possible. (3) it shows how lazy the animators got while depending on CGI - they didn't bother drawing any people in town or average citizen reactions to the fight going on above their heads, something they would have never overlooked during any of their previous work.
sorry, no full movie cam yet - just a lot of scam links and files from my years of torrent experience (japanese: kungfu, porn, anime, culture, nature) i have noticed that japanese are little known for posting movie cams on the web even though they are probably the best camera equipped people around. usually they wait till a DVD comes out then eagerly post a full 1080p rip of it.

1: My whole problem with DBZ, and series like it is, where do you end it? "I'm super saiyan! Badass need no more power!" wait... "I'm SUPER Super saiyan! Badass need no more power!" wait... "I'm SUPER SUUUPER super saiyan lvl 3! Badass need no more power!" wait...... Then you add fusion, then you add god mode, then really..... That gets old fast, because the last enemy turns out to be a bum when the next one shows up, even though he killed everyone.... *yawn*
2: Yapping saves on animating fight scenes..... Since most talking is done from a distance, with two figures standing still. Or pans to landscapes and such. That's golden, almost as much as stock footage is or flashbacks. DBZ is certainly famous for that.
3: CGI effects saves on animating people. Though you would think by now everyone is used to such things going on, and figure if they get killed that Goku will just wish them all back anyway.
Yes, I will certainly check this out once it's on BD/DVD and someone makes a rip of it, I don't bother with cell cameras, I prefer to watch a proper video with proper sound.
So, who is the girl? There ARE No girl SSJ's...and at this point, Pan isn't even born yet, let alone old enough to be an adult.
And I agree. All this 'heroe's get stronger and stronger' nonsense is what is tiring about the series. that's why I actually liked DBGT for a different take on the whole thing. It's a shame the non saiyan characters don't get a supercharged power of their own just to be able to keep up!
Also, I take it SSJ4 is not cannon? Akira designed SSJ4, and I like that look alot better than God mode. As someone else pointed out, it's nothing but a variation on Kaio Ken.
Videl and Gohan(Goku's son) are unborn Pan's parents. i agree Videl in this movie does not look as tomboy distinctive as she did back when she was still single (around the time of cell saga then the later boo saga).
Videl (Mr.Satan's daughter) is 100% human but learns a lot of DBZ skills like Chi control and flying from Gohan. Videl & Gohan met while attending the same high school, and eventually teamed up to fight petty crime in their city. Gohan settles down to become a university professor, while Videl helps manage Mr.Satan's estate.
what i found curious about this premise was in all the future timeframe DBZ content, Pan does not become a super saiyen, even if you presume using her fetus in this ritual was credible. in future setting DB-GT Pan travels with Goku who has now been dragon wished into a child form, so Goku does most of the super saiyen fighting while Pan remains the brains of the operation.
Ahh, so that IS Videl. Would have been my second choice, but since they said it was six(?) Super's...that had me confused. Always liked Videl. Usually I don't care for romance plots..I find them more bothersome than interesting, but she and gohan made for an interesting couple. Strongest fighter in the universe, with one of the weakest/yet bravest ;o)..
I remember reading the manga guy forgot his name wanted to end the manga with the cell sega. That is why kai ended it's run there. If you think about it that is a great spot to end it. Goku dead and at the time you could only come back once with the dragon balls he would stay dead this time and gohan inherited his dad's mentale as the protector of the earth as at the time he was more powerful than everyone and goku seemed to pass the torch to him.
