looking for 2.5mm to 2.5mm audio cableDoes anyone know where I can find a 2.5mmm to 2.5mm (both male ends) audio cable?
I have tried The Source, 2001 Audio Visual, Canada Computers and Walmart (I also tried a few of those cell phone repair places) |

You didn't mention if you wanted mono or stereo. Anyway, Amazon is a great place to buy cables. » www.amazon.ca/s/ref=azs_ ··· io+cableYou might have to use a couple of adapters and a 3.5 cable but they'll have something that fits your need. |

Never heard of it myself until now. There is 3.5mm or 1/8" which is pretty common and on most things like cellphones, tablets, laptops and computers. It does exist as searching around shows but I don't think it is a common size yet. » www.infinitecables.com/a ··· 5mm.html |

2.5mm would be unusual - what's the application? Stereo or Mono? Canada Computers shows 2.5 to 3.5 adapters on their website - kinda mickey-mouse, but could you use 2.5 adapters on the end of a 3.5 cable for what you're trying to accomplish? Failing that - what about making your own? Get a couple 2.5mm plugs, and see how steady your soldering hand is? » www.infinitecables.com/a ··· 5mm.htmlFirst link I saw that provides what you're asking for - no idea how they are, or anything beyond that they exist... |

Monoprice rapes Canadians on shipping these days. All he needs is two of these... » www.amazon.ca/2-5mm-3-5m ··· &sr=8-13And one of these » www.amazon.ca/male-3-5mm ··· 5&sr=8-1And he's good to go for under $4 taxed and shipped. |

And just to clarify: Those items I listed from Amazon are from Amazon Resellers and sell with free shipping. And Amazon resellers do not charge HST.
So yes, he can get the whole thing for under $4 taxed and shipped.
Personally I think the resellers are losing money on the deal but then again that's the kind of crazy deal you find on Amazon sometimes. |

You might want to check with Sayal electronics, though most likely they'll have you cobble something together with 2.5 to 3.5 mm adapters, and use a 3.5mm audio cable in between. |

Infinite cables is from the Toronto Area. They have a huge selection of cables. » www.infinitecables.com/a ··· 5mm.htmlShipping can be a bit much when you are buying a single cable though. |

said by lugnut :Monoprice rapes Canadians on shipping these days. $3.55 shipping costs from Monoprice is hardly "rape". Your Amazon option comes out a little cheaper, but plugging together a mishmash of adapters and taking into account the shipping times from China (a month or two), the Monoprice option is far better. The total cost at Monoprice, for a single 6-foot cable with no adapters required, tax and shipped, is $6.77. Your Amazon option, which involves two different vendors, products with poor reviews, a jery-rigged adapter mashup, and super slow shipping by boat from China (one of the companies only has 2 reviews on Amazon...), would cost $4.18... Not worth saving two and a half bucks for a half-assed solution like that. |

I don't buy cables from anywhere except monoprice. You pay a bit more in shipping but you get a great product, shipped quickly and never have to worry about the quality or reliability of it. |

First of all, there are a few vendors for each item from Amazon. You can get all the items from American vendors for the same price if you just scroll down to the alternate resellers. Whichever one shows up on top when you click the link is randomized out of fairness to their resellers. Secondly, I've ordered from Hong Kong many times and it never takes more than two weeks to arrive. Thirdly, two bucks is two bucks when it comes to savings and since there's no currency conversions involved with Amazon you save getting raped by Visa as well. Fourthly, the adapter approach is more versatile in the long run and can be adapted to other purposes once the original use has been made obsolete for whatever reason. Fifth and final, I've ordered HDMI cables from Monoprice once and I have to say I HATE the super heavy duty insulated inflexible crap they coat their cables with and would never order from them again. So to sum up, my option is still cheaper and better and just about as quick as monoprice any day. |

Infinite cables,I linked it above. According to snafu, they have a pickup centre in Markham. I have never used the pickup spot personally.
However, I've order many cables from them and have never had a problem. |

I don't know what HDMI cables you ordered but the ones I have from Monoprice are as flexible as anything else. The only thing more flexible is the super-cheap thin piece of crap that I specifically needed to replace because it was causing occasional HDMI protocol errors. The Monoprice cables have been flawless. |

Monoprice RedMere HDMI cables are not cheap, but they're the thinnest things on the market. Up to 15 feet, they are actually thinner than the USB cable coming out of your computer mouse, and yet they work better (less interference/signal loss) than a normal thicker 28AWG cable.
Redmere is pretty amazing stuff. |

umm check again, i see 3 conductors, THREE, not two. count the copper/metal parts of the head set jack, that determins if its stereo or mono. 2 conductors is ground and one channel audio. 3 conductors is ground and left and right audio conductors. |

This is where "Tip" and "Ring" in the Telco world come from, btw...
Or in this case, T/R1/R2 - Tip is 'ground' - R1 is Right Audio (or mono) - R2 is Left... |

Cablesonsale stocks monoprice products. They do have local pickup in Markham, I believe » www.cablesonsale.ca |

There are advantages and disadvantages to cablesonsale. For any order that is under 4 lbs and $60 in value, it is much cheaper to buy it from Monoprice direct and pay the Canada Post shipping. But anything that is over those limits that force you onto DHL, then cablesonsale is cheaper.
It's a gray area when you can split an order and each segment falls under the Canada Post limits, Monoprice is probably cheaper in that case too. But for anything where you've got a single item over 4 lbs or $60, then cablesonsale is going to be cheaper overall because DHL shipping from monoprice is insanely expensive (and it's the cheapest after Canada Post).
Another gray area might be the use of freight forwarding companies if you're willing to drive down to the border; the cost of shipping will be tons cheaper from monoprice.
For example, want to buy a 6 foot ultraslim redmere HDMI cable? That's $10.43 from monoprice with $3.76 shipping, or $26.19 from cablesonsale. So it's a ripoff from cablesonsale.
But what about item 3900, the TV wallmount adapter? That's huge and weighs a ton, so from monoprice the cost is $20.96 plus $49.72 shipping, versus the cost at cablesonsale of $34.99... So even though cablesonsale is inflating the price a ton, it's still much cheaper.
So, you've got to case-by-case. For most monoprice purchases, it's likely cablesonsale won't make sense. For big stuff, they will make sense. |
