Replacing amps and splitters is still WAY cheaper then rewiring every pole and every house and adding onts to every house.
also docsis 3.1 is adding things like ofdm and doing away with those 6 and 8mhz channels.
I do not see why splitters and amps have to be replaced if they are not using anything aabove 850mhz
Verizon stated it costs them 3k to wire each house for fios. Times that by 3 million customers and that's a HUGE price tag. Not including replacing the miles of fiber. Cable can replace amps and splitters as people order the new tiers that dcosis 3.1 enables.
