| reply to GeorgeBurger I would love to see Vmedia work on any ISP, but if that doesn't happen, it would be nice to see an ability to transfer for a reduced, or no charge. If your with a TPIA provider already, to pay to have no one come to the house, a full install charge is very ridiculous. |

However, it is our understanding and correct us if we are wrong that transfers are only possible from incumbent cable internet providers, not from their resellers, so no transfer option is available if a customer would like to jump from TekSavvy to VMedia. |

No transfer/activation charge jumping from Teksavvy to Start, if that's what you meant by resellers. |

 | reply to GeorgeBurger Hey George/VMedia,
I am hoping that you guys could post a short demo video of the UI/UX of the VBOX. It looks great/slick in the few screenshots on your site, but I'd love to see a video demo of it in action (TV guide, apps area, etc).
Cheers!
(Also - Hi geokiller! That you from HWC? ) |

My body is ready. I think Vmedia should be able to sell you internet where you are, provided Rogers is there. I think Cik-tel is aggregated. And since you don't need to buy Vmedia TV (which is location specific), it should be a go.
Call and find out?
Maybe George will let us know if their Internet offering is geography specific like their TV offering. But I get the feeling it isn't. |

 | reply to GeorgeBurger 45/4 for 52.95 and it's unlimited? Wish it was available in Barrie. Crossing my fingers when Distributel comes out with their new speeds/pricing packages they are competitive. |
|
 | When will VMedia get its own ATPIA with Rogers? Is there an estimated time frame? |

I've posted some of my observations on their technology and the challenges they face on my blog. Hopefully it will be helpful for those thinking of subscribing to their IPTV service.

xdrag join:2005-02-18 North York, ON | reply to GeorgeBurger Hi George,
Two things that are really pressing for me:
1) transfer charge. I'm currently a TSI subscriber for 5-6 years now and unfortunately the $100 charge IMO is way too steep. Would be easier to swallow if there's a discount somewhere (TSI to start doesn't cost any)
2) what is the streaming bit rate? The 2megs was never clarified. Would be able to offer something like enhanced HD? Part of the downfall for Rogers is compression! If your streams are only as good as Rogers, you're shooting yourself in the foot. With speeds of 45megs the quality should be dictated by the connection.
Lastly I heard that a PVR service is coming in a few months? |

1 edit | reply to GeorgeBurger Hi GeorgeBurger,
If a Whole Home PVR is not possible with your initial model of PVR, would it at the very least be possible for other devices in a home, like DLNA players, or devices that can mount an SMB share such as a WD TV Live or a Roku be able to play the content from the PVR's drive? Assuming the "PVR" has a hard drive.
Alternately, if the PVR could store "recordings" on a local SMB share that would be awesome as well. But of course, due to legal issues, I doubt you would be able to allow for unencrypted files/recordings.
This would go a long way to being Whole Home without the need to have a PVR in every room.
Cheers ...... -- .... and the monkey flips the switch. |
