Re: VMedia Launches

It's unfortunately also more expensive than rogers the VIP package when you build a comparable package. Hopefully that Uchoose package makes it more competitive.

George: Can you tell us a bit more about the ISP? Is this in house? Resold from another IISP? technical details? Any plans to offer 50/10 FTTN service? I'm interested but I really like my current ISP would need to know I could expect similar performance.

You may be figuring that because we have not launched our Premium Basic service. I am pretty certain, if you get that for $39.90, with the $33 you have in your pocket to spend as you like, you will get the balance of the channels you want and more. That will be available in 4-6 weeks.

Hi

We get our DSL directly from Bell, and we get cable through another ISP, CIKTel. WE do look forward to our own TPIA deal soon with Rogers. And yes, Alexei and I were just talking about offering higher speeds. We will look into it.Right now we were focused on killer comparables, matching our Basic + internet with similar offers which show compelling value on our side, so for example Bell's Basic plus 6Mbps service clocks in at over $80 on a recurring basis, with contract, while you get something similar from VMedia for under $60, plus no contracts and no limits. But I take your point.

The one thing I didn't notice right away was that a bunch of the channels are in the Premium Basic and then again in the theme packs. I was beyond what Bell was charging me for the same channels until I noticed that. It was still more expensive than what I get on a retentions deal, though not by much and without the annual retentions dance. Hopefully the UChoose stuff will change that.

Beyond making that more clear, I also found the info on the VBox page lacking (like available outputs, cost, etc). The UI screenshots are hard to see as well. And can you have more than 1?

I'd also add a whole-home PVR to the wishlist for the future :P

All academic for me, though, as you're not available in Ottawa yet.

BT thanks for your input I will pass it right on. And hopefully you won't have long to wait in Ottawa.

But, you can get Rogers or Videotron Digital Cable and go with TPIA or AGAS based internet services with any numbre of the IISPs in Ontario or Quebec. The savings via cheaper internet is a moot point, you can get them with IPTV or good ol' digital cable.

But you just launched your product, so I will keep watching to see you folks improve. The basic is pretty nice deal, the add on packs, depending on which channel one would want, can increase the bill to be the same or more expensive than your competitors'. Any ETA how the package where you get to choose specific channels?

Kudos on the launch, more choice can't hurt the market.

If you're using CIKTel, does that mean that you have the ability to offer services on the Cogeco network as well as Rogers?

Yes we offer the Cogeco 20Mg service.
