Re: [Digital TV] Channels Moved

Well I went to the local office today to get the Digitalink boxes and of course like I thought they don't offer them in our market. Ended up getting a tivo mini for that tv. No one there knew why the channel mappings would suddenly change like that.

Cabal, while I know they don't have to map them, I know they have some control over them. Thats why before all the channels matched the analog number with the -2 on the end. so Channel 47 was 47-2. After the move all the channels are sub channels of random numbers.
now my channels look like this:

24-2
24-3
24-4
24-5
24-6
24-7
...
24-35
96-36
96-37
etc

before they were like this
2-2
3-2
4-2
5-2
6-2
7-2
etc

Every provider I've been has been the ones to assign what channel gets what program. They will also re arrange them sometimes. What you have is unlike anything I've seen though, lol. Possible piece of equipment out of whack. Remote possibility that your area went to atleast a partially switched broadcast and you're picking up random channels as they are called for by others. Interesting that their solution was for you to rent a tivo...

The local office's theory is that I had a power "blip" and it caused my channels to change.... They hadn't heard of anyone else having the issues.

I wanted the Tivo mini anyway, and was able to get them to waive the $50 install fee so I was happy. I still don't undertand why they don't have any digitalink boxes if they have digital stations. I guess they don't want to give the free boxes out if they don't have to.

Suddenlink does not use SDV in any area. Also what they are seeing is the physical channel location so 24-2 is channel 2 and 96-37 is channel 37 the original poster lost PSIP(remap) info the Suddenlink sends out so it is an issue at the headend or they purposely stopped pushing it out.

Why I said it was a possibility, lol. No clue if/where they have started using it. Sooner or later though it's pretty much guaranteed that all cable will be switched.
