andyrossPremium,MVM join:2003-05-04 Schaumburg, IL | [Connectivity] Something is messed up on my connection Started having issues with my VPN to work. Did some tests, and something is funky with my upstream. Ran the VisualWare quality test, and got this. I bolded some of the issues. I think receive in this case means what they are getting. I have posted in the Direct forum to see what is going on.

andyrossPremium,MVM join:2003-05-04 Schaumburg, IL | For reference. This is after about 90 minutes uptime since the last reboot.
It's hard to say when it started, although it was probably overnight or early this morning.
I had 16-days uptime before I started having problems, and hadn't had any problems until this morning. |

jlobb2 join:2013-03-28 Romeoville, IL 1 edit | reply to andyross I'm interested to hear what they say. Although I don't have any issues, while helping a friend troubleshoot his speeds, I was looking through my modem logs to see what config file I had. What I noticed was that there is no config file being loaded, unless I am missing it. My log is nearly identical to yours.
*edit nm. I found another post after a couple hours of searching that states the config file is hidden on a SB6120 and SB6121. Hope your problem clears up. |

andyrossPremium,MVM join:2003-05-04 Schaumburg, IL | Haven't heard from the direct forum yet. It's still somewhat acting up today. Sometimes it's OK, then it's glitchy again.
On the Motorola's, you only see the config file after a firmware update. My log is short because I had a done a reset and reboot to see if it would clear up the issue.
If I hear nothing, I may buy a Zoom over the weekend and see if that helps, given some of the issues the SB's have with bonded upstream. |

Still nothing from Direct. Still acting up. |

andyrossPremium,MVM join:2003-05-04 Schaumburg, IL | This is the only one that I know of that gives statistics like that. Also, copying files to work through my VPN are horribly glitchy and slow. Downloading is fine. I ran off of my "speedy" (1.5/0.384) DSL backup connection today for work.
Still haven't heard from Direct forum. I was hoping to see if I could get the uSNR readings. |

No, but it's the only avenue you have sometimes. |

I basically only do large copies though the VPN. That said, when I run speed tests, you can see the upstream test being all over the place, and I can see the network connection light on my router not blinking continuously for the computer's connection.
I have also seen this on 3 different computers, and rebooted the router. |

| Take the router out and go directly off the modem would be a good first step.
You need to find a problem non-VPN related as well, because there are dozens of reasons your VPN would be behaving that way. What does ShaperProbe say when run on your connection? |

andyrossPremium,MVM join:2003-05-04 Schaumburg, IL | The issues tends to come and go a bit. I'm wondering if heat may be an issue, as these are some of the first warm days in awhile. It's marginally OK in the morning, but gets worse in the afternoon. As far as the VPN, my backup DSL had no issues with copying, beyond the normal slowness. I get a consistent 35KB/sec, which is about right for 384Kb DSL (unlike cable, DSL rates are raw and your actual rates a bit lower due to overhead.) quote: DiffProbe release. January 2012. | It hasn't really been hot to the point heat will be an issue, and if it was you would see a big swing in SNR and signal levels, and your connection beyond your VPN would be affected.
Please run that first test again without your router and see what happens. |
