DA join:2002-04-13 Greenville, SC 1 edit | [HSI] Anyone else having issues reaching some sites today? I am in the Upstate SC and a few weird pages don't seem to be loading reliably such as Imgur, t-mobile, speedtest.net etc...
Anyone else seeing this issue? |

 | reply to DA The sites you listed are fine for me (I'm in Oregon, though), but a number of other's aren't. None of my regulars, luckily, but I've noticed that a lot of links I've clicked on today never load. |
|
 | reply to DA I noticed this as well. For me it was some image linking sites for twitter and a couple random sites. Im in Greenville as well...but it seems fine now. Perhaps a DNS issue? |

DA join:2002-04-13 Greenville, SC | reply to DA Thanks all, yeah it seems to still be happening this morning for me and it seems to be pretty random. |
|
 | reply to DA Could be due to this:
New York Times: Spamhaus DDoS attack
From what I can tell it's still ongoing. |

DA join:2002-04-13 Greenville, SC | I thought that as well but I don't see the issue with other providers and if it was such a large impact at this time I would think it would be impacting more people.
I guess I just need to open a ticket, I was just hoping to avoid that, |

 | I'm in Greenville also. On charters DNS servers I have issues as well. I'm using OpenDNS and there are no issues. |

I've been having this issue for the past several days as well on Charter in Asheville, NC. DNS isn't helping here - for imgur (for instance) it just hangs on any response from i.imgur.com even though nslookup returns the correct info. How will I go on without funny Reddit pics |
|
 | Also from Asheville, NC - I've been having problems for a couple of days. Recorded message from Charter says they will be through with some work by 5pm. No improvement yet for me. |

DA join:2002-04-13 Greenville, SC | reply to DA So I have tried opening a ticket via chat and calling in and I am not getting anywhere...
I eventually just changed my MAC address on my router and rebooted everything to get a new IP on a different subnet and the problem has gone away.
I REALLY miss the umatter2Charter team... |

CoolMan join:2008-01-07 Tennessee kudos:1 | reply to DA I have been having the same problem on certain websites they will timeout several times and it also seems random at certain times. I have switched between OpenDNS, Charter DNS and Google DNS and it makes no difference.
I am NOT in South Carolina but when I run a traceroute to websites I am routed through Spartanburg, SC before going to Atlanta, GA.
The problem sites will load fine on AT&T 4G LTE on my smartphone. |

| I've been getting frequent dc's down in Dallas. Lots of packet loss. Had a tech scheduled to come out but then I got an automated voicemail saying "they fixed the issue" and the visit was cancelled. Lo and behold, 0% packet loss for a few days. Back up to 5%-25% now, intermittently. Have you run the line quality tests at all? |

All my signal levels are exactly where they should be and outbound monitoring of my router show no drops there either. As soon as I got a new IP my problems went away. |

This is probably related to the spamhaus DDoS. The assholes(STOPhaus) are DDoSing cloudflare, DNS servers, and basically anyone who agrees with or uses spamhaus's blacklists. They are peaking at something like 300gb/s, and due to the nature of the DNS system, they cannot just shut them down or change their IPs like they can with other internet infrastructure. Any site that uses cloudflare is being affected heavily, since cloudflares DNS services that redirect people to the closes cached copy of a site is being hit hard. their site is up and down, as are their services, which takes out a huge chunk of the internet. |
