[Line Problem] Uncancelled Echo rises after an hour:

Starting yesterday (a few weeks after the phone line the DSL is on was totally dead and had to be fixed at the main box for the house tract) the Uncancelled Echo will shoot up to as much as 40db, but if you unplug the phone cord from the wall jack then plug it back in it shoots back down to -20 for an hour before going back up. The line has been more or less stable for years (minus random stuff like a few weeks ago), this is a new problem. So it's not like there's an unfiltered phone on the line now or something.

So anyone know if the echo clearing up for an hour when it's just unplugged and then plugged in is a sign of anything specific?

Edit: Well, now it's been at a steady 2.2db for the last 12 hours. At least that doesn't drop the connection. I'll attribute this to random line gremlins unless someone has a better idea.
