Brand new setup not doing well

I had Comcast for TV and FIOS business phone and Internet using a terrific Cisco RW180. Went to all in one. Coax into Verizon router with poor quality Wireless signal strength from basement. As best as I can determine from what I have read, is the all I can do is run a connection from a lan port on the Verizon router, and place my Cisco RW180 in (Access Point) mode somewhere else in house for better wireless coverage. That allows the STB's to work and better wireless coverage (correct?). This does not help with file sharing p2p and a lot of wireless devices because of the 1k NAT table. From the ONT is there a way for both the cable and Ethernet to be active? I would think not as it would likely have to have two ip's assigned to it or you may get some very strange results, (is that also correct?).

The Actiontec has not had a 1K NAT table since the rev. A. With a new install you should have received a rev. I Actiontec which has a 100K+ NAT table.

cat5 WAN and coax WAN can not be active at the same time.
»Verizon Online FiOS FAQ »Can coax and cat5 be active at the same time?

Certainly connecting the RW180 as a WAP is an option, however, there are numerous options for connecting your own router as primary without losing VOD and guide data functionality for FIOS-TV. Start here:

Just to clarify,

I had Comcast for TV and FIOS business phone and Internet using a terrific Cisco RW180. Went to all in one residential with Verizon.

Coax into Verizon router with poor quality Wireless signal strength from basement throughout the house. As best as I can determine from what I have read, is that all I can do is run a connection from a lan port on the Verizon router MI424, to my Cisco RW180 lan port, and place my Cisco RW180 in (Access Point mode) located somewhere else in house for better wireless coverage. That allows the STB's to work and better wireless coverage in the house Is that correct? This does not help with file sharing p2p and a lot of wireless devices because of the 1k NAT tableon the MI424. I never had any problems with the Cisco at all. From the ONT is there a way for both the cable and Ethernet to be active? I would think not as it would likely have to have two ip's assigned to it, (one for Ethernet and one for Coax) or you may get some very strange results, (is that also correct?).

Reposting your original post doesn't clarify anything.

Read the links I posted and post back with specific questions.

also why is your router in the basement. That is the worst place for good coverage. The router can go anywhere there is coax.

Yes I know I can put it anywhere with coax, but I have a 16 port hub in a rack in the basement and many devices cabled to it. Two Ethernet cables going upstairs, so it looks likethe easiest thing is to turn my Cisco RW180 into a WAP connecting one of the MI424 lan ports to the 180's WAN port and letting it DHCP from the MI424.

Not sure if you're referring to the RW180 getting a DHCP WAN address from the Actiontec, or are referring to DHCP on the LAN side.

If you connect Actiontec LAN to RW180 WAN, the RW180 will need to be on a subnet other that 192.168.1.x and will need it's own LAN DHCP enabled. See trade-offs option #1.

Disabling LAN DHCP on the RW180 is only done if you use a LAN-to-LAN connection. See trade-offs option #3.
