Huawei & ZTE may not be spies, but they soon will be...

Karl I usually agree with you but you are dead wrong on this. They are a Chinese company which refused to provide proof that they are not associated with the Chinese government.

OK, let's go by your idea that they are a completely legit company. Now ten years down the road when they install all of their communication devices in and around the world you're going to tell me that the Chinese government won't strong-hand them into taking over their network and using it for spying!? I know they would, with all of my heart! And since they are a Chinese company operating from China they would HAVE TO COMPLY! Or have their business destroyed or simply taken over, over night.

I would never buy a Huawei or ZTE phone and neither should any of you! Also I'm not saying that American companies are any better, however they have nothing to gain from bringing down the American way of life, China does! Chinese people are hard working and shouldn't be associated with the Chinese government who are evil and destructive!

Agreed - Karl is rarely offbase.

And I mean no disrespect - but China is aggressively stealing both our technology and government secrets.

Anyone who thinks Huawei wouldn't be used by the Chinese government to facilitate network intrusions is naive. Again no disrespect intended.

I'm dating a Chinese woman. Have no issues with the Chinese people, but their government will do everything in their power to gain the upper hand over the US in every way possible - including using people who have emigrated to the US to steal secrets for them. You can't go a week without hearing a story - the last one was the NASA employee.

I fear its pervasive.

It's irrelevant. We haven't used our government cyber capabilities to our economic advantage. That needs to change.

You have no clue what you are talking about sarcastic or not! There is no reason for us to use or abuse our position! Companies come from all over the world to sell them to the US customers! That is by definition an open and free market! Open Markets shouldn't need government intervention at all to function, although Obama seems to think they solely rely on the government to function! But that argument is for another day.

Hilarious. The US government already strong arms ISPs and businesses to allow them to snoop on private citizens' data and communications. Oh the hypocrisy!

The Chinese are hacking everything they can and Huawei is so deep in it, they couldn't get out with a shovel. At least the United States is finally publicly acknowledging it.
