[KS] What do I do with these antique boxes?

Wife had to have HBO so I first ordered DirecTv only to read that it wouldn't work the way I watch tv on my pc. So I tell the wife to get it added to our cable. She comes home today with a DCT2224/1661/ACDEG and a DCT 6412. I hooked the cable to the 2224, audio and video out to the 6412 and red/green/blue to the panasonic plasma. No signal.
I am at the moment regretting canceling the DirecTv install, would have had a NEW genie receiver. The wife should have been able to buy the one dam show she wants off HBO with the internet connected Panny.
edit: no tech before weekend so I'm supposed to hook it up so she can watch her show Sunday. and I did carry signal from 2224 to 6412, they provided a yellow/white/red and composite and rg-6 patch cords. sent sound to 6412 but wonder if it shouldn't go to audio receiver. TOO much hardware.

Re: [KS] WTF do I do with these antique boxes?

Huh? 2 cable boxes daisy chained? Why do you have the A/V from one box going into the other box?

Coax cable goes into both. Output from the boxes goes to the devices you want. 2 boxes = 2 different TVs connected. You don't daisy chain them.

Hello sawman,

I'd be happy to look into this for you. From what you wrote so far it does sound like you are connecting 2 boxes together which might be causing your issues. As DrDrew said above each box would go to a separate television. If you need more assistance feel free to private message me your account or phone number and I can look further into this for you.

I was indeed daisy chaining them, but now with just the cable from the wall to the dvr and composite cables R/B/G connected to the tv composite in there is no signal when I choose the composite input as source on tv. Trying to scrounge a audio cable long enough for sound. Would be very nice to have something with an hdmi port as the tv has 4 hdmi inputs.
Life was much simpler with the cable hooked to the Panasonic TC-P50GT30 and the tv connected wirelessly to the internet. All this headache and $ for one HBO show.

Thanks so much for the assistance. The local office brought a 6416/2300 over which had a hdmi port. Have no idea why the composite didn't work with the other unit.

I do not either. But I am very happy we were able to get that set up for you. Please let me know if you need anything else.

the reason they didnt work is that mediacom is reusing junk. It would be nice to see them get new boxes sometime this decade...

@mchsi.com

I work for the company and can contest to this... We get junk and send junk out.

chad while I agree it maybe better. Your competitors are releasing new equipment faster. That tivo deal was announced in September of last year. Which I am sure there was RND done before the announcement. No one at mediacom will comment when they are coming out. I can't believe that there is no known release date. And the problem with mediacom is they will release them market by market instead of across the foot print all at once.

I understand what you are saying, but we have to make sure that we have to equipment in stock before we deploy it, and by going Market by Market, we can assure that we do have them.

TIVO will be a nice addition though, its a step in the right direction

The TIVO upgrades will definitely be a step in the right direction and this should improve the cable experience for Mediacom customers. Unfortunately at this time a specific date is not known but once an update is released I can inform you here.

actually if you order enough then you could do a nationwide rollout. Tivo manages to rollout all at once. Im sure mediacom could. The other problem is im sure mediacom is going to try and rape the customer in the process. These boxes should cost no more to rent than the current 10 yr old boxes.
