Re: Disney (Florida): Recommendations / Opinions / Conjecture

OK. I just got back from Disney on Saturday and here are a few things I would mention.

- If you are going to eat in the park or hotels, get a dining plan. The food is SO expensive the dining plan will seem cheap. Really.

- Six year old girl? Make her an appt. at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique to become a princess. The Boutique in Downtown Disney is actually nicer than the one in the Magic Kingdom.

- Disney just massively expanded the Magic Kingdom with several rides and there will be a new coaster by the time you get there.

- You can get Fast Passes every 2 hours. Do it.

- Make any reservations for lunches or dinners or boutiques 3 months in advance.

- We like the Fort Wilderness Cabins. You boat to the Magic Kingdom instead of bus.

Forgot to mention that, the boats to some of the Disney hotels are a nice ride.

If you go to the International Gateway in Epcot, you can catch a boat to the Epcot Resorts area. There are some fun things to do on the Boardwalk and from there you can catch a boat to the Studios. It's a fun way to park hop.

Looks like you'll be there during the Food and Wine Festival at EPCOT, so be sure to take advantage of that. My family and I will probably be heading down there around the same time-frame, specifically to be there for it. And Port Orleans Riverside is our favorite resort; we first stayed there back before it was even completely built out yet, when it was still called Dixie Landings.

No idea if still is but a decade ago the Norwegian smorgasbord was the bargain in Epcot world stage, and very tasty as well as some wonderful visiting native staff though almost like the Disney costumed or venue characters (Like Dis DT Explorers club) not in any way allowed to break character or fraternize beyond the character even you know they were playing someone else the night before.

Did finally meet an ex one here visiting in Key West a few years back and had a very interesting talk about that and how rigid those rules were, as much as they may have wanted to.

Just had to be the sterile unapproachable Mickey, Goofy or Norwegian wench

Alas, the smorgasbord is no more. They turned it into a princess character buffet some years back. Miss the cheese and fish. It was a great lunch on a hot day.

Yes it was, and very reasonably priced compared to the more formal restaurants, plus the imported Norwegian female serving staff were very nice and friendly too.
Is the Maelstrom ride still next to it... or is that area not Norwegian themed at all anymore?

The Maelstrom is still there. It even has Fastpass now, although I'm not sure why...

I don't understand that either...
Loved the ride, hated the movie.
