| Phone upgrade fee I had an old LG ENV which I was told I would get a $50 discount on a new Iphone. So I upgraded to Iphone and then got socked with a $30 upgrade fee. End result is a $20 discount. What the heck is that all about. Did I get cheated somewhere??? |

Moral of the story... Buy something like a Nexus 4 contract free, unlocked from Google for 300 bucks.
That's the only way this highway robbery will stop. |

You didn't get cheated anywhere, but you should have been told there would be an upgrade fee before you upgraded (in a perfect world scenario).
Verizon Wireless announced the change last year, by implementing a new fee for "Upgrading" your phone.

Essentially, when you upgrade using a subsidy (discounted price vs the full retail price; $199 vs $649), you are being charged an extra "fee."
Similar fees apply to AT&T and Sprint as well. |
