Re: My own modem -- what do I get?

said by hiiiiyo :

Hey all,

Sonic.net support told me that after the first month, I'm allowed to turn in the Pace 4111-N I got and replace it with my own equipment. Any recommendations on what I should get, and any thoughts on how to set it up? I'd prefer to get one of the already-supported devices.

Any adsl2+ modem will work. Settings are the same as the "supported" examples.
Adsl support mostly consist of dealing with att comedians and crumbling lines, not modem settings.

Thanks then! Any suggestions on inexpensive but good modems?

I'm still running on the Motorola 2210 modem Sonic supplied earlier. Glancing at Amazon, though, it seems it's no longer made and new prices are inflated. Some units were said to have problems with overheating.

My standby is an Actiontec GT701D that has performed well.
