CEV Installation Weight Loads

IDOT wants to to do a road widening, and their plans show a new island over our new CEV, and part of the structure is in the south bound traffic lane on the drawings. It is in a purchased easement right now. The engineer asked me if the CEV structure could be driven over. I would think so, but cant find any data on the structure. Has anyone else placed one in a road before?

I am just asking because legally we don't have to move it for free, but not agitating the DOT is a good thing in my field.

What is a CEV?

It's a underground structure containing telephony equipment.

Controlled Environment Vault...

Depends on whether the vault is traffic-rated. My guess...probably not, especially if there was no plan for the future roadway modifications.

The specification documents for the original CEV installation should indicate its rating.

PE time, not guess time ( professional engineer ). This would have to be designed and approved by an engineer, not something one guesses at and later a car or truck breaches the vault

John Galt nailed it...

I have some experience with CEV's - they are available for under-road use, but it needs to be designed and installed with that application in mind...

The vault owner should have the specs from install... That'll tell you if it's rated, or if IDOT is buying the LEC a new one...

Ya that's what I figured. I am waiting to review the original docs now. It is in an easement that we purchased anyway, but I would like to accomadate the DOT if at all possible for political reasons.
