[Speed] Norton from Comcast = SLOW!

I let my paid subscription from Norton expire and downloaded the freebie Norton security software from the Comcast site. After installing the Comcast Norton I noticed a big drop in the speed of my downloads. Meaning it takes much longer for pages to load and display. This problem is on my laptop and I noticed the problem as soon as I installed the Comcast Norton. The laptop is using my wifi. I have a desktop running the old (expired Norton) and the download and page loading speeds are still FAST! Both pc's are running IE 10 Does the Comcast Norton cause this slowdown???

A properly downloaded & simply configured Norton download via Comcast should not cause "slow down".

Did you just download Norton or did you include Constant Guard?

Did you completely purge your old Norton before this install?

I would suggest trying to reinstall Norton. Try using this tool to remove Norton, and then reinstall using the link provided below.

»support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home···le_en_us - Norton Removal tool

»www.comcast.net/Security/SecSuiteSSO/ -Norton 360

I downloaded the uninstall tool from Norton and ran it to remove the Norton 360.
No,,, I didn't download the constant guard.

I've been running it on two Macbooks now for the past 4 weeks and not a glitch. I hope your problems are resolved.

Try disabling Backup & Backup status overlays.

I agree with that.
Mine was a little slow both up and down when I first installed Norton.
After I disabled the backups, no problems at all.

Thanks for the info. I am going to back and uninstall Norton then search around for any leftover Norton files and get rid of them. Then I'll do a fresh install of the Comcast Norton. I did disable the backup and backup status overlays and it looks like the speeds did improve.
Thanks!

Did you uninstall the one that expired and then reboot after before installing?

HI
Sorry I am so slow getting back here. I deleted the Comcast version of Norton and reinstalled the Comcast version of Norton again. Download speeds are much better!!!! I also disabled backup options mentioned above and page loading speeds are still very good! I didn't use the constant guard feature. Will that slow things down or cause problems???
Thanks for the info and help!!!

Why would you want to use that bloatware anyway? it slows your system down. Windows security essentials is as good but doesn't affect your systems performance. It's free too.

Norton is not a problem- ConstantGuard is. I've been using Norton on my PC since 2009 when Symantec rebuilt the software from the ground up. It is probably the lightest anti-malware program going. You don't even know it is running.
