[Excel] Custom Colors Don't Match

I have a .xls file hat was created in a previous version of Excel. There are cells that have the color: RGB: 255, 204, 153. Which I believe was the common "tan" color. Now in Excel 2010, I formatted the background color of other cells exactly the same as RGB: 255, 204, 153; but they are not the same shades. The new shaded cells are similar but darker. I need them to be the same.
Format painting makes them the same background color but there are too many other formats that I do not want to change.
What other factors are there besides the custom color that could affect this? (there is no conditional formatting).
