Upgrade to Lightning without Service Call?

Happy Easter weekend.

I am going to buy my own modem next week, this one here »www.amazon.com/Motorola-SurfBoar···ola+6141

Once I get it can I call in to have my service switched to it and upgrade to lightning without having a service call? All of the cable from the tap to the house and inside the house was replaced last summer when I added digital cable service, so everything should be ready for lightning.

Thanks!

As far as i know Yes when you get your Motorola SB6141 Just call and give them the MAC address of the new Modem. After that say you want to upgrade to Lightning it can all be done over the phone. If they say something like oh it can be a few days just open a direct forums post and BHNtechXpert can activate your new modem just give him your current IP address

In most cases we can do this by phone.

Just found the SB6141 modem on sale for $74.95 plus shipping at Rakuten.com:

But I called Best Buy and got the price match guarantee, with free shipping. Added the 2-year protection plan for $14.95. With tax, came out to the same as Amazon. I normally don't buy plans, but this one seemed like a good idea, if only because of Florida thunderstorms.

Looks like I'll be calling BH soon-- needed to revisit my service choices anyway.

No, I'm a former phone company employee, so for now I'm keeping my landline. Yes, I did read the forums and see that there's an extra piece of equipment if you also have VOIP.

Well not so much extra unless you don't buy an all in one gateway...was just making sure.
