Re: Did I get screwed (old gen Set Top Box)? No. If you paid the $40 it will be the 7232. If its not pm me. I will help you. |

3 edits | To Verizon's credit I got my new box only 1 day after ordering it. I was also happy to find out it is indeed the black QIP-7232-P2. All I had to do is unplug the old piece of crap, and plug the new one in.
The full-screen menus look great compared to the squished version from before. They also seem more responsive (though I may be just imagining it). The black finish and rectangular shape, plus no more gaudy orange display (nice icy blue instead) complete the package.

Even my old recorded and scheduled series got transferred after I tried scheduling them again. BTW, does anyone know how I can check the hard-drive capacity of this device?
Still, this whole process left a sour taste. Would it be that much harder for Verizon to offer this as an option before I scheduled my install? I'd gladly pay the $40 then, and save myself the aggravation of having to replace equipment a few days after brand new install.
Now on to figuring out what I can do about the router. I can already tell I got shafted there as well, because it only has 1 antenna. |

You're seeing the IMG in HD now compared to SD with the old box. The IMG is noticeable more responsive with your new box as it has more memory so it's not your imagination.

There's always the hidden diagnostics mode (when box is on press power immediately followed by the OK button twice) but the only hard drive that the 7232 comes with is a 500GB drive plus the capability to add your own external eSATA drive up to 2TB.

VZ likes to believe that new customers get the latest equipment but that's obviously not always true.

Good luck with that one unless you're willing to pay $80. That would mean you can keep your current one as a spare or use it to get a wired connection in another room over coax that doesn't have ethernet. This is their latest router and where you can buy it if you want the latest and greatest: »teleproducts.verizon.com/fios/in···Products |
