Re: I hear the plaintive sound of violins...
Every industry needs regulation. If a new company with an unlimited amount of money (China) goes into any industry and can undercut every other vendor because they steal the money from their own people it's not fair to begin with. They will simply undercut until everyone else is out of business and then go back up in price. That's not the free market, that's simply free pockets. Everybody in the free-market should play by the same rules and the Chinese play by their own completely!
"The relationship between what we see and what we know is never settled..."
It's a fair point and I'm glad to see you say that every industry needs regulation. I wonder, though, whether you would be prepared to stick to this argument if the chinese weren't involved. The argument you are making for interfering in the ability of a chinese company to use deep pockets to subvert competition could also be made about the behavior and power of many american companies that control their markets. Are you willing to tolerate governmental interference in such situations as well?
