Re: Junction Wire InterfacesHow hard? Takes a couple of days to do the physical work and tie the remote-SLAM into the JWI...
Attached or separate? Depends on the access planner, location, and specific hardware being used... If they are tight for space in the easement, they'll go with the attached units; if they want/need the extra hardware space, they'll go stand-alone.
The goal for TV is under 750m - for higher speed (but not TV) - I believe to target is 2.5 km.
First signs of a remote would be Expertech (or another company) installing ducts and fibre to the JWI... That can be weeks or months ahead of the actual build work. Next would be a concrete pad or retrofitting the new skin on the JWI...
As for the FTTN target - Bell is throwing big money at the project... My guess, they are going to make it, or be damn close... Watch for the TV footprint to expand dramatically, too... |

Thanks for answering the question. The OPI/JWI is about a minute or two drive from me will I be able to qualify for the 50/10 VDSl plan or would I have to be much closer to the JWI and Remotes? This brings up another question and what is the maximum distance for VDSl I've read that some say 1200 metres and others differently. I would assume that if the Remote is far enough from me then would there be a way for me to get the 50/10 plan in the future or will I only be able to get the 25/10? |

For FTTN you can get service up to 1.2km of loop length from the remote and as long as the copper between you and the remote is good and doesn't have any metallic issues you'll have no issues getting 50/10. |

Bell plans on wiring up over a million additional homes across Ontario and Quebec this summer alone. You'll see all sorts of construction happening very soon, if not already. |

Fibe TV is supposed to be in Ottawa this year and I've noticed many streets with spraypainted sidewalks and little bell flags stuck in the grass. Looks like a big summer for them. |

Fibe TV sucks for one reason only--you have to get Bell Internet in order to have access to Fibe TV. That right there means I'll never, ever use Fibe TV and frankly, they should not be allowed to make conditional bundles such as this..... |

Yeah, I would love Fibe TV if not for that. If there was a way to sign up for six months and then threaten to cancel if they don't zero rate the Internet side I would bite the bullet and use Bell Internet for those few months, but from what I understand they lock you into a two year contract just for the privilege of signing you up.
I can't say that despite all that I'm not still thinking about it once it's up and running here, though. |

MediaRoom (the user interface for TELUS TV and Fibe) is awesome... IMO, blows away everything cable is doing right now.
If it were available here, I'd jump on it, myself; Bell internet or not - it's that sweet. |

That's why, despite the possibility of being forced into Internet and my loathing for Bell and the fact that my wife scorns me anytime I mention that company's name, I *still* want Fibe TV. The fact that they have an unlimited option makes it a little more palatable, but the most they'd ever get out of me is two services, not three. I will not take a home or cell phone package ever in a million years. If that means they won't give me unlimited for $10 and won't give me the receivers, they're just screwing themselves out of a potential customer because as awesome as it is I won't put myself into a position of being screwed for it. If they'd sell me just Fibe TV with no Internet right from the get-go, I would gladly pay for the receivers though. |

What if the loop length is a bit farther. I would estimate that JWI is farther by about 250-275metres than the 600m figure you quoted. Perhaps 850-875 metres roughly from me. Will I still be able to qualify for 50/10 if they install a 7330 in the cabinet/opi/jwi? If not are they going to install a remote closer to me than the farther jwi/opi/cabinet? |

He could be though a bit farther with pair bonding and vectoring being used. |
