Roof Jack Boot revisited

»Roof jack boot

Finally got some time at home to replace the boot discussed in the above thread. I inspected the other jacks and I'll be damned if they are not cracked now too.

Found that and ordered three of them, one for each jack.

I just thought I should pass it on. I'll let you guys know how they work out.

That is pretty slick, a lot easier then replacing the flashing itself.

One concern is how well it tolerates wind driven rain?

Call me cautious but I'd prob run a bead of caulk around the top edge of the portion where his twisted the collar.

Actually I thought about that. I need to get them in hand to see how it is constructed. Maybe but doubtful it has a gasket.

I agree, very slick and great idea. Same plumbing principle as say a p-trap compression fitting. Only difference being the materials are subjected to roof temperatures. I'm impressed at the ingenuity, looks solid to me.

Good point. I wonder if it uses a similar gasket system like plumbing fittings.

Without having the product in hand, it looks that way to me. Being a vent stack and pvc, not a far stretch of the imagination.

Would caulking survive the heat, cold, weather, etc? Maybe some Henry's roof mastic or comparable if he were to choose that route. That is a really cool collar. Maybe the manufacture has a recommendation or preference regarding sealing materials.

I imagine it would using a exterior grade caulk.
