Need specs on a Whirlpool L30S61-303 LP water heater.

I am trying to determine the minimum spacing from the top and sides required to install this water heater, I have a space where a electric unit of the same gallon capacity and physical size was installed but I want to be sure the new will one have enough clearance from the walls and ceiling to operate safely.

Lowes has bumpkiss of information on their site and while I can find a installation manual on the Whirlpool site all it states it to install it per the spacing on the units label.

Now this is a non-stocked item so I cannot go to the store and read the label and I don’t want to order one only to read the label and realize it will not fit in the existing location without remodeling.

So I am hoping someone out there may have one installed and can pass on what it states upon the label.

I am a Whirlpool/American service agent, and while I cant state the exact install numbers, typical for a gas unit would be--

6" from all sides, installation on carpet illegal.
24" from front for servicing, and also 24" from top of heater to ceiling for heat clearances.

If this is a manufactured home or trailer, most gas units are not certified to be installed in these circumstances, and a certified unit is usually 25% more.

Now, I usually work with Natural gas units, propane typically has stricter guidelines. I recommend calling Whirlpool directly at 1-877-817-6750 and get the exact specs from them..

good luck

Plus make sure there is enough makeup air available to the location.
