[Parts Check] Sata Hard drive question

Hello, I have a Dell optiplex 755.

It has a Western Digital WD Blue WD2500AAJS hard drive with 250 GB.

I would like to replace this and buy a larger drive. I checked on Dell and listed on replacement parts is a SATA 6.0Gb/s hard drive.

My question, is this compatible?

I'm not too sure if my machine supports SATA 6.0 if the current hard drive is SATA 3.0.

May someone assist?

You can put a SATA III (6.0) drive in a SATA II (3.0) computer because it is backwards compatible. I have it in one of my computers.

I actually have a 3 TB SATA III (6.0 Gb/s) HD in a SFF 755. Works fine.

Thanks kingdome74 and aurgathor.

It's my mom's machine. There were bad sectors on the harddrive, and its a few years past warranty.

Her system is very slow. I vetted it on the Security Cleanup forum earlier this year. There was some improvements after running CHKDSK a few times.

However, it is still an issue. More bad sectors were found.

I will then purchase a new SATA III drive.

Cheers!
