| 2wire Name Resolution I have a 2wire 3800hgv-b from at&t uverse. I noticed that 2wire gateways seem to have the ability to automatically allow computers to ping other computers on the lan by name instead of ip address whereas with routers I've used previously from Linksys and Netgear I've always had to remember the ip address of the computer if I wanted to address rather than a easy to remember name.
My question is how is it that the 2wire gateway accomplishes this and is there any way to setup a standard router from the variety of vendors to mimic this ability. |
