Comcast is looking pretty good standing next to ATT, lol!

It's really hard to bash Comcast when I'm getting 55MB/down and 11MB/up for only $70 a month! That is faster than most businesses and schools! Also currently I have no cap (Comcast stopped enforcing them) for now and it's awesome! Comcast may be overcharging for TV but for Internet I think they are under the average by quite a lot in my area. For the money the fastest you can get it DSL 6.0 from ATT (old Bellsouth area). Comcast blows that away!

While many don't 'need' 55/11Mbps, what many would like is typically lower cost. If I could pay $30/month for 6Mbps, I might take it over 55/11, as I really don't get much more out of it (at least currently).

Problem is that AT&T wouldn't give 6Mbps for $30/month w/o expensive POTS.

If you can get Verizon FIOS that is the way to go. I got 15/5 Mb connection for $30/month with no cap.

Are you on some promotion?

Regular pricing for 15/5 is $74.99 a month (source: »www.theverge.com/2012/6/ ··· et-plans )

Now, yes Comcrap is charging only $62.95 for 25 mbps download, 5 mbps upload, and $72.95 for 50 mbps download, 10 mbps upload, IF Comcrap DO go back to the usage models (see: »customer.comcast.com/hel ··· aunching )

Then Verizon FIOS might be worth it, given that Verizon FIOS has no caps, and/or usage based billing.

At the same time though, IF Verizon FIOS do go to a usage model, then who knows.

You really can't compare your cable connection to business and school connections based purely on speed. Business accounts have higher levels of support, better routing, and not to mention priority QoS so that they don't slow down during prime times.

As far as it goes for Comcast, yeah, if I could get those speeds for that price I'd do it lol. I've got 30/2 for $54/mo. and it's horrible.

They stopped enforcing caps in SOME areas. In my area they charge $10 for every 50GB over 300GB for residential customers.

>>>> Features not available with Comcast residential service.
<<<< I am exploring an apparent policy change which would allow me to return their RG in exchange to drop the fee.

On the one hand, 50 Mbps can probably be said to "blow away" even Sonic.net "Fusion" 15 Mbps.

On the other hand, unlike naked Comcast Blast, I get local and LD calling, value added call features, DNS for my domain, a static IP address, and control of the rDNS.

And an extra $15 a month for anime and manga.

For the money, I can live with "slow", when "slow" is fast enough for my use of the Internet.

(If Comcast were to offer "Double Play Performance" (Internet+Voice) with all the features of Sonic.net "Fusion", I might reconsider.)
