Send me $20 and I'll drop the extra one I have laying in the garage in an envelope for you.

Would you also have a radiator for a 65 Corvair?

Ok - April Fools gag over. The (original) VW Beetles of course have air-cooled engines, so there is water pump...

Back in the day when I used to turn wrenches (early 90's), that was one of the gags pulled on new guys at the parts house. We'd get a tip that from the other guys who worked there when they hired a new guy . Then it was time for requests like this if the new guy was unfortunate enough to be the one answering the phone... The other guys (in on the gag of course) would let the new guy twist in the wind for hours...

Those are for the modern water cooled engines if you look at the dates. But I see where you could fool someone not paying attention to the lists.

Also the Corvair radiator was one we used at the parts store when they had the kid that only ran the register working the counter when the others were busy. That way we could wait for someone more knowledgeable to wait on us. Yea it was crappy to do, but it kept them busy so they didn't get into trouble for standing around.

well at least you did not try and convince anybody that since its air cooled it would need... an air pump.

You know you are getting old when you actually start thinking where you can get one.

New hires were sent to a local parts store to get a can of compression. If they were already aware of that then we had them ask for a botulism valve for a 1979 Trans Am Turbo.

When I first saw the thread I started to remember JC Whitney and found their website when I realized it was a '74 Beetle... So I almost got suckered.

We would send irritating new hires to the parts department for a "long stand".

Wonderful inexpensive to buy cars that ran forever. They could be driven at top speed until they ran out of gas without any strain while getting great gas mileage too.
