[Vanilla] Hunters do you remember this

So I am extremely bored at work and looking on the back pages of this forum and found some fun things that I am sure some of us take for granted like:

Ok, say I tame pet 1. Pet one knows rank 2 bite. I don't know rank 2 bite yet. So I tame him, feed him a bit, and then fight along side of him a couple times, and it should say, you learned (in this case) bite. Now say you stable/abandon pet 1, and tame pet 2. Pet 2 does not know rank 2 bite, however is eligible to learn rank 2 bite (some pets cannot learn bite). Once you feed pet 2, and he gets some talent points, you can train him rank 2 bite...You'll find it in the top tab (forgot the name), and then you should have something like beast training in there...click on it, and it will pop open a list of all the pet skills you know how to train to your pet, and how much TP it requires

And every time you leveled you traveled all over Azeroth locating the next rank usually from a named mob, sometimes from a rare spawner. Yeah, when the major Hunter changes came down I was a bit sad, but only because I invested so much time doing exactly what you're posting about.

I liked it when maintaining pets was challenging. Learning new abilities and maintaining loyalty/feeding was a fun side game.

Got Brokentooth at level 37. Still have her as my primary pet to this very day.
And that whole 'bag slot taken up by a quiver' bullshit.

I always tried to keep a pet that could eat bread, so I could feed them conjured food :P

I went with one that could eat fish as I always fished.

Or running from one capital city to the next just to learn the different types of weapons to level their skill. Even worse was getting an upgraded weapon which you didn't have a high skill for and having to miss for the next hour or so just to level it up to your level.

Oh yeah, you finally get a weapon upgrade and then you are outside the gates of the capital city bringing your skill up from 1 for what seemed like forever

Not only that, but there weren't enough quests to level you within a zone. I remember being in the 40's and having to go from STV to Kalimdor to quest just to do more than grind mobs for xp. That and the 1000g mount cost for lvl 60 riding and how you got almost nothing for questing. Gold was scarce until Wrath really.

All of these things, we bitch and moan about now. And yet, we still talk about and remember them like it was yesterday. That says something IMO. It's the same old adage about something meaning more when you have to put time and energy into it.

My favorite thing that I miss were the AV battles that lasted for days on end. And Windfury on my TUF.... oh how I miss my insta-kill triple crits.
