[Tampa] cable box turns off

Cisco cable box turns off on average 2-3 times a week during night. Reps have been out 3 times and replaced ground blocks and cables. Was told this should not happen this often, that they have problems with boxes, then told program available for hotels where box never shuts off and he would call me later after checking if it was available, never called back. Last time I called BH was told that this was normal and they did it at night to affect the fewest customers and I had the option of changing to a different cable company. Tired of the different stories and the crappy box that requires updates so often (if this is reason). Tivo programs will not record when box is off. Funny they can reset a box and it comes back on but they can't have a box that turns back on after updating. Been with BH for 9 years and happy otherwise, but maybe time to check out competition as phone rep suggested.

If you have a Cisco or Samsung box they will reset twice per week shortly after 2am. If recording with Tivo is important I suggest you install a cable card and tuning adapter and let the Tivo handle the recording directly.

TIVO series 2 will not work with a tuning adapter. I have that setup with the TIVO Premiere. If it was true that it was somewhere close to a set time (2 am) then having the box set to turn on at 5am as I do should resolve this problem. Works some days but not always. I could replace TIVO, but there are things that I prefer on the series 2 and would be cheaper to replace BH.

The reboots are at approximately 2am that I can assure you as I watch them as they occur. It can flex a few minutes either way but thats the general time. These reboots are part of necessary housekeeping and therefore things will not be changing for now.

Well, as I am awake when the box turns off sometimes at 4am or 5am on some days there must be something else going on. Funny, I will add your explanation as a new one, since I have heard 3am, 4am, sometime after 3am and now 2am. Updating story sounds fishy to me.
