 | [Internet] Lakeland, FL intermittent serivce quality issues We have a client in Lakeland, FL who is using Bright House for their internet. Yesterday they started experiencing some extreme VoIP quality issues from their location. Upon running the normal speed tests, and VoIP quality (network jitter & packet loss), everything appeared fine, but the problem still existed. One thing we did notice during the speed test was that instead of the 55x10? they should be getting, they were only getting about 20x2 (still extremely good speeds). I tried doing a traceroute and noticed that it was timing out on the step when it should be hitting their gateway (bright house modem). I can ping the gateway, and if I do a tracert to the gateway IP address, it completes fine with no time out.
I called into the tech support number for that area, and they confirmed that they couldn't access the modem properly from the tech support call center, and they scheduled a tech to come out. Well this morning, the bright house tech went onsite, and claimed that he could not find anything wrong. Additionally there seems to be no VoIP service problems this morning. We did power cycle the modem and router yesterday when the problems were occurring (and prior to calling bright house tech support), but that did not make any difference. Also, upon tryng to do a pathping to any external hostname/IP it stops immediately after the router IP before hitting the gateway.
Can anyone help shed some light on this since as I see it, the problem still exists, even if the symptoms are not presenting themselves right now? |
