It used to be that it was pretty easy to talk to a Comcast rep and get a good deal on pricing. For a long time I managed to have $65 for Digital Starter with DVR and Blast Internet.
Now it seems like the most you can get is a $10 credit here or there on a $90 service package. And that $90 service package doesn't even include HD standard ($10 more! Who doesn't want HD in 2013?) so the credit basically vanishes immediately.
I'd rather give MLB.tv my money directly and use a proxy than pay Comcast an extra $30/mo just to get baseball.
reply to radiocolin I had the same problem. I was getting everything for $159 plus boxes for my parents. Then their bill went up to $272. So I called and they said that was only for new people. After some haggling I got digital preferred, blast! and phone for $200 a month with boxes included. I tried to get the old deal but the lady refused to budge. Don't worry though I am calling directv in a bit to see what deal I can get from them. My deal with Comcast expires this month and I will try to leverage my directv deal to get the same deal I have now.
reply to radiocolin I've found Comcast to be pretty good about giving me deals on pricing. The discounts are usually only good for 6/months to a year and I have to call them again.
Make sure you are talking to the cancellations department. Billing can't really help you. They will check to see that you are a long time customer (whatever that means) and that you pay your bill.
I just called a couple weeks ago and got $30 a month knocked off my basic cable package. -- Craig »CraigHarris.org My BLOG on Motorcycles, Computer Stuff & Deals.
I was on the phone with Comcast earlier tonight. I have a triple play package and so I am basically "screwed" with prices because there is no competition available in my area to switch to. FIOS won't expand to my county in NJ and Dish/Direct TV doesn't have the same options for HSI and Phone so Comcast knows this and sticks it to their triple play customers.

This. I even had the lady from retentions tell me herself to call back when the promo ends and they would likely be able to tack me on a similar plan for another 2 years.
