The DSLx prequal shows service is available at up to 6000/768 but this is a rural area that didn't have DSL service at that CO when we checked in the past.
If I IM the phone/address can DSLx confirm availability, and lookup the wire distance to CO (since the distance lookup is no longer available on BBR) to help determine if a reasonable speed can be achieved? |

 | Yes and as soon as DSL_Nick sees this post he'll help you. |

I can see that while the CO is about 2.1 miles from the service address, I have been told that there is an equipment cabinet "where the paved road ends" which is Crown Valley & Bandell which is only half the distance, so possible speeds might be better. I don't know what's in the cabinet, just that it's a bit larger than a refrigerator. There might be Uverse in that area.
Another related question: for ATT service area, if a new customer isn't certain DSL service will work out for them, can they sign up for month-to-month (at a higher monthly rate) just in case, and convert to a annual contract later? |

Nnng... yes and no. They can, but they'd convert over to the renewal rate, not the first-time customer rate. If possible, it may be worth asking any neighbors if they have regular DSL service from AT&T, as that would give you a likely prediction (but not a guarantee) for what sort of speeds are realistically available there. |
