Bell argued that it violated their right to freedom of speech and disadvantaged the customer (or some such nonsense), as they weren't given the opportunity to get the best possible deal before switching.
This ends up allowing Bell to continue to charge higher prices to everyone, and only cut special deals when someone is in the process of switching to a competitor.
This of course has the net effect of allowing Bell to keep prices high and to squeeze out competitors. Bell's lawyers really hoodwinked the CRTC on that one. -- MNSi Internet - »www.mnsi.net |
