japPremium join:2003-08-10 038xx | simple, safe tool to rip audio-only out of youtube content? 85yo guy who's computer brain I support has a local radio show and is killing himself trying to grab YouTube vids then extract audio using a local app. He was advised by someone else to use TorchMusic (same company as Torch browser) which apparently will do it push-button simple in one go. I've not verified this.
Anyone know a dead simple tool for snatching audio? I mean seriously idiot proof levels of simple. Torch might be best option but thought I'd ask here first. Plus Torch gives me that slimy data mining sensation. |

Small. Simple. Free. Does what it says.
FLV Extract Extracts video and audio from FLV files without decompressing or recompressing.
It extracts from the FLV in the source format, so you would expect to end up with either an MP3 or AAC file in most cases. And to me that is the way to do it, because with any format conversion there will be quality loss. |

mplayer -really-quiet -ao pcm:fast:file=your_output_file.wav -vo null -vc null your_input_file

Warzau 's tip on 4KDownloder appears an excellent option for this guy. He struggles with downloading then loading a file into an app. It's too much for him to comprehend files moving around and how they interact with programs.
The above image shows the entire user interaction with the program. Copying URL into Windows Clipboard buffer + hitting the "paste url" button on the main interface spawns the download dialog. Key for this user is that he doesn't need to mess with the vid file at all.
Thanks again to all who replied. |
