Re: [Need Info] Phillies Baseball

We have the MLB Extra Innings Free Preview through 4/7, but I assume that the channel with the Phillies - Braves game will be blacked out tonight for RCN customers.

Does anyone have any experience with MLB.TV or At Bat subscriptions to know if the game is also blacked out on there if watching from an RCN internet connection? I'm asking because I was able to watch the Phillies - Blue Jays exhibition game last weekend on MLB.TV on my computer even though the game was on TCN.

My ex-boss used to get that. It didn't work locally here in Allentown, but I was able to setup a proxy server from one of our server in our data center in Colorado so when he streamed they thought he was in Colorado and it worked.

So, unless you have a data center you can put a proxy server on, it won't work. Although godaddy and such has virtual server you can buy pretty cheap, but I think the bandwidth for the games would kill you financially.

MLB TV through the computer would block out all the Phillies games also. I checked and they use your IP address and zip code to check and it said team(s) blocked : Philadelphia Phillies so forget that. I also like when you go to the free MLB preview this week and go to the channel where the Phillies are on and it comes up Sorry but this game is blacked out due to local restrictions. Check your local cable networks or something like that. I yell its not available on our cable network they don't give us the channel! Its a lose/ lose situation for the RCN customers in the Lehigh Valley and Philly market. Only RCN holds the cards to take care of this. I wonder if there reading, listening and taking this seriously at all the demand for this channel and do they really care?

Thanks heggs for the confirmation about MLB.TV.

I would like to give RCN the benefit of the doubt that they are trying to satisfy all sports markets. In fact, are any of the other RCN markets missing any MLB games: Bosox, Yanks, Mets, O's, Nats, Cubs, Chisox? Let us know because I thought that PA was the only one still missing a channel for MLB.

Good question st89jebn, so I decided to do the research in the other RCN markets to see if they are missing games of there favorite team in there city. After all, if you notice nobody is complaining on the forum about missing a Yankees,Mets,Cubs,White Sox.Nationals,Orioles or Red Sox game. Lets take a look and see why?

RCN New York Market: YES Network
MSG Overflow Network
MSG Overflow Network Plus
SportsNet NY
RCN D.C Market :
Comcast Sports Net
Comcast Sports Net Plus
MASN (Mid Atlantic Sports Net)
MASN 2
RCN Boston Market:
New England Sports Net
Comcast Sports Net
RCN Chicago Market:
Comcast Sports Net
Comcast Sports Net Plus
RCN Philly/Lehigh Market:
Comcast Sports Net

I think this explains it pretty clear why we need and should have The Comcast Network added in the Philly/Lehigh Market. RCN its a no brainer. Case Closed!

@rcn.com

Markets outside of LHV are more competitive therefore all sports are carried. Comcast and Time Warner are bigger threats than SECV.

I'm in the Philly market and I can switch to Verizon or Comcast. All sports should be carried with two main competitors readily available.

My last post apparently went over your head cause you did not see what I was exposing. First off, I don't care about Comcast or Time Warner, there not available in the LVH, I am referring to RCN and RCN only on this matter and how there other markets they serve carry all the Extra and Plus sports channels so they never miss there baseball games even if the Knicks,Islanders,Capitals,Bulls,Black Hawks,Celtics,Bruins are playing cause RCN gives them all there sport overflow channels even when 2 (and 3) sport teams are playing at the same time in a particular city. RCN refuses to add The Comcast Network to there Philly/ LVH customer base and that is what we are fighting for and asking RCN to add. RCN only gives us ONE local sports channel the Comcast Sports Net, they will not give us the overflow sister channel TCN (The Comcast Network) so when the Sixers or Flyers are playing the night the Phillies are on at the same time the Phillies are pushed to TCN and by doing this we miss around 10 regular games plus around 20 spring training games which are also on TCN. And if the Flyers or Sixers make the playoffs,we continue to miss more games.Take tonights game for instance, Phillies come from behind in the ninth to win with a walk off double. Did RCN's customer base in the Philly/LVH see it? Nope we don't get that channel but we were able to see the Sixers get blown out by the Heat on our only ONE local sports channel. It would have been nice to have a choice like the other RCN markets don't you think? What if a Yankee,Red Sox,Nationals fan could not see there team play? I think I made myself clear, and if RCN continues to ignore it, all the power to them.

Im sure its not a Service Electric, Comcast type of decision. RCN of Lehigh Valley has as many New york fans as they do phillie fans. Now RCN in Delaware county and such doesnt even have NEW YORK fans on the radar. Wow , what a game last night

Glad I have a way to stream the games I get screwed out of seeing on TV. I'd be ticked if I missed last night's game.

Thanks Heggs. It sounds like TCN is the last overflow channel for RCN to get done.

Lehigh Valley actually has the YES Network in Standard Definition. It's on channel 403 here. Local Yankees/Mets fans can watch all their games in SD, but us Phillies fans can't watch it either way?
