 | reply to Mac973 Yeah, just got the notice that both ESPN Classic and ESPN Goal Line/Buzzer Beater are both being removed.

 | That really sucks !
Classic I can do without. But Goal line / Buzzer Beater? WTH.
Will it now only be in the Ultimate Package?
or are they "consolidating" it to an actual Sports Package?
OR Both? |

OR Both? Good question......I love watching classic college football games over the summer.
This stinks. |

 | reply to webcobbler What annoys me the most is that verizon says the reason is to "consolidate FIOS TV programming." Stuff and nonsense! |
|
 | reply to bushleaguer ESPN Classic and ESPN Goal Line / Buzzer Beater will remain on the Ultimate Package, but GOL TV (Ch. 313) will be removed from the Ultimate Package next month.
With the transition of ESPN Goal Line / Buzzer Beater to the Ultimate Package, all MPEG-4 delivered channels will be exclusive to Ultimate and premium level. This is why Verizon can continue to install old 6000 series boxes on new installs for customers subscribing to the Extreme Package or less with no premium packages (HBO, Cinemax, Spanish, NHL, NBA, MLB). |
|
 | reply to Mac973 Just to note - I posted a question regarding this move on Verizon's forums website asking what those of us with the Extreme HD package would need to do to regain access to ESPN Classic.

 | reply to Betamax76 That is good that MPEG4 channel will be exclusive to Ultimate.
However, what abut people that have Extreme or Less package with the 7xxx boxes?
They stopped making the 6xxx boxes I believe in 2008. Smart people will just exchange them at the stores for 7xxx boxes, or the upcoming Media Server STB and Client boxes.
I would imagine that eventually, VZ would transition all its channels to MPEG4, correct? Like they are starting doing now with the April 15th, 20 channels they have announced. Making it so whatever package one has, the channels are all MPEG4.
Or am I just thinking out my Buttocks lol. |

You'd think that, but my brother had a FiOS install (just became available in his neighborhood!) on Tuesday and received a 6416 DVR, even though his new package includes Ultimate.
Frustrating.
I had him go through the STB replacement procedure on the DVR and it gave him a date of 5/15. He's thrilled with the service otherwise. |
|
 | As techs, were just as frustrated as the customers. We'd love to put in a new DVR...If we had them to put in. |

All things being equal, better he has the install done with the 6416, and a new DVR to be shipped at some point, than to have to reschedule the install until 7232's are available.
The 50/25 Internet package is blowing his mind ... Showing him how out of date his computers with 802.11g wireless are |

 | reply to Mac973 Frankly they should remove ESPN Classic altogether, it's a total waste. Goal Line is useful, but in reality almost EVERY major CFB game is going to be on a network you already get. |

just lou join:2008-05-16 Staten Island, NY | reply to Mac973 I wish they'd get rid of 90% of the SD channels, and give us the other 10% in HD before removing them too. |
|
 | reply to Jackarino People still watch SD channels? If VZ would add TCN to their HD lineup, I would absolutely have no need for SD channels at all. There are other channels that I would watch if they were in HD, but I just can't tolerate watching SD anymore. Color me intolerant. |

I can think of about 100 channels that they could get rid of before they started to gut ESPN......but to each his own. |

|
 | reply to Mac973 Why do they keep removing channels and not add any new ones? It's amazing how this whole process works in slow motion. In a few months, I am sure another email will go out saying another two channels are being removed and then again in a few more months.
Comcast on the other hand, is moving ahead and offering exciting new things, what a disappointed this fiber optic technology was.
Goodbye Fios, hello Comcast. |

Goodbye Fios, hello Comcast. Its the content providers driving up the costs, so to keep the tier from increasing in price, they have to pull the expensive channel(s)
Good luck with the move, cable costs are not any lower than what Verizon charges, once your off teaser new customer rate |
