CA, San Diego Why is Cox bonding 4 upload channels?

That is my speedtest I did today.

Cox bonded the upload channel to 4 and with Powerboost that's what I got for upload. However, the real upload speed is still around 2.5Mbps (I have Premiere package). You can test your real (sustained) speed here at »test.lvcm.com/

So my question is why are they bonding 4 upload channels for? Just to increase the Powerboost speed for 15s? I really don't get this. This also confuses a lot of customers because when they're doing the speedtest it shows a really high number, but their real true speed is still 2.5Mpbs upload. If anyone from Cox can explain this, I really appreciated.

Upgrades have to happen first, before speed increases can happen. So this is a sign of future speed increase's that can/will happen. If you think as soon as an upgrade happens, you are gonna see your speed's increase, you are sadly mistaken. You are still months away from any kind of upstream speed increase.

How do you know it's "months away"? Is that how long they usually do the speed increase after an upgrade?

Well with upgrades, there is always a period in which they monitor things for problems. If any problems are found, they are corrected. So as of now cox is in a wait, and see approach in your area.

Oh ok I see, but you will def do a speed increase right if they do the upgrade in my area? Cause I doin't see the point of doing the upgrades and then not doing it

Based on my experience with comcast, once i got upstream bonding the slowdowns during peak went away. More room on the pipe. I've had the upstream bonding here in hillcrest since i got it installed last month. same speeds as you.

So you're saying they're not gonna do anything? The 4 channel bond upstream is just to help with the slowdown during high peak time?

No, just helps. The tech i talked to when getting installed said it's coming eventually. I get a lot of slowdowns here in hillcrest and increasing speeds won't help me. LoL.

You said "the tech you talked to said it's coming eventually". Like what "is" coming eventually? the speed increase?

Yes, other areas have 50Mb where we still have 25Mb. He complained about how san diego's network is much older and needs upgrades still. He didn't give a timeframe.

Yea San Diego network is really old, but they just upgrade to 4 channel bonding upstream so Im supposed they will increase the speed soon.
