Is it Ok to inquire about the rationale behind a site rule?

Mr Neutron Mackerel by Moonlight Premium join:2005-05-30 Gorham, ME	Is it Ok to inquire about the rationale behind a site rule? I'm trying to figure out the "why" behind a "what." Is this acceptable? (To clarify: this is not concerning a Mod ruling or anything like that.)
