In a few decades when you bust these machines out to hand them off to your kids, nephews or grand kids you don't want to see them just sit there displaying "Unable to contact server..."
That's exactly what's going to happen. And what do you think is going to happen with all the games that make half the game DLC. Where are you going to download it from after the company stops supporting it?
