 | reply to kidari The ceton is a one way device so they can't read anything on their end saying the device is paired.
Some people have to go through a dozen cards before they find the right one but usually it isn't that bad. The last three ceton cards/units I installed (as well as the my own personal unit from over a year ago and a few others but not all of my installs) required me to do a power cycle once I could see the card received it's hits. Until then I was in waiting for CP Auth limbo. Now as long as I'm in a cisco/sa area if it takes any time at all once the hits come in, I power everything down... and am in business when it comes back up; with moto cards, because of the mysteriously changing data id, I'm almost scared to.
I had not seen the message you posted from the diagnostics but there may be a chance that it is trying to do a firmware update during that time. Also make sure you have an multistream (m-card) and not a single stream card. Also make sure the card is inserted firmly and in the correct orientation, I believe its top is away from the coax on the pcie model, look at the manual though I believe the ceton's is online as I only recall a single sheet telling to goto a website and I must admit I don't look at it anymore). I've also seen problems crop up with the coax adapter on the pcie versions.
WMC has its own tuner/setup problems. Make sure you have run the windows experience index rating then run the Digital Cable Advisor. Usually I make sure both have been completed prior to install. Also make sure you are not running any Anti-Virus/Firewall apps other than the built in windows firewall and Microsoft Security Essentials. It has also been said that certain cisco vpn software also conflicts. I don't think this affects the ceton as much as a prime but it also a good idea to make sure your network is set to home or work and not public.
I usually look at the devices webpage, logs and cablecard diagnostics screens while pairing as I can see if anything is happening when they send the hits. Keep in mind that you must have a good OOB signal. If you have a tuning adapter, I usually would suggest waiting until the card is paired before messing with that but there are a couple of instances from long ago (not with cox) that I'm aware of that if a TA was on the account, it would not work at all without it as for some reason only the TA would get the maps, but usually without a TA, it will still get the maps and work for the non SDV channels. For instance my CC shows about 350 channels in its map but the TA shows 536. |
