[Cable] What to expect from a Rogers Atpia Install?

I am quite fammilar with the DSL Install, and what to expect etc.. i have not have cable from rogers For Thirdparty installed. what should i expect? 1 tech 2 techs? Do they make sure your Modem is fully functional Before leaving? what Is the Proper Process that the tech who attends my install In a Perfect world should be following?

My setup is pretty straight forward and easy for the tech. i want the Cable Modem in the basement directly on the Feed from rogers, i have cat 5 to every room At the same point plugged into my router so all i want is cable modem there working and then i can plug it direct to my pc if needed but i will be moving it to my router after he leaves if thats a requirement ( already Cloned my pcs Mac addy to my router to avoid that issue)

Normally, a single tech will hook up the cable to your modem from the pedestal near your home, add a filter if you are only getting internet (no tv), to block analog tv service. They also will add a TPIA tag at the pedestal.

A tech remotely at the Rogers head end, or some office somewhere will activate your modem. They should do this before they get there, but if not, the tech may need to call it in. Technically you should be up and running before they leave. Most times this is the case..

If you have Rogers TV NEXTBox 2.0 they will need to add additional splitters and MoCa filters. and check that NEXTBox 2.0 still works.

When I had mine installed the tech just crimped the new cable and tested the line stats. He said that it was up to me to connect the modem and test the connection, because I wasn't a Rogers customer.

ya pretty much if TSI is only service on the line. they will plug in the wire outside. test for signal inside. and give you a new crimped cable. and walk out the door. 2-4min visit.

Both times when the install happened and when a tech was sent to repair my horrible signal stats, they stuck around to make sure 1) Modem sync'd online, 2) check Modem stats and 3) to run a speedtest.

If you already have cable Internet, don't expect a technician to come to your house. I've read a couple of such situations. I didn't have a technician come either.

I disagree I had a technician come to my house twice, as they cut off my internet service and drive away really fast.....

Luckily I have no fear of Rogers Box's and was back up and working within 5 minutes each time.

all you guys have scary stories of the rogers tech. i guess i got lucky.

1) A link-on communications (contracted by rogers, the van was red with rogers written on the side) guy came
2) he tested the signal going to the box outside my house
3) he then replaced the coax cable connecting my house to the post
4) Then showed me the 10dB signal increase on the tester he had
5) he then proceeded to connect the new cable to the rogers box outside my house, with filter
6) he came inside my house, asked me to show him where the modem was going to get placed
7) he checked the signal going into the modem with the tester. all was good
8) he then opened up a laptop which had a rogers mobile internet stick in it
9) he activated the internets through the laptop he had after he went on some special rogers web page
10) he then made sure i was getting a proper connection
11) he left only after everything was fully functional, and i was getting full speed.

i was very pleased with the service the tech gave. Before the guy installed a new line from the post to my house, he basically asked me if he could. I asked if I had to pay, and he said no.

as you can see, only one tech is actually involved.

From my experience they check the outside connection, come into your home and run the cable where you want it to be located and confirm modem sync.

They will test it at the model level with there own laptop to eliminate any network shenanigans during testing.
