 | Cannot get Actiontec as Bridge + Cisco DVR boxes working I have been plugging away at this for hours to no avail.
Here's the background: I have a standard FIOS install (network coming in over CAT5, TV coming in over Coax). I was given new Cisco DVR boxes with my new install last week as well as the good old Actiontec router.
I've configured these things a million times over bridging the LAN network over to MOCA and then distributing the MOCA over the splitter to my STBs. This worked for years with my old house (just moved into a new one). I have the FIOS CAT5 connection going to my router (Asus RT-N66U running DD-WRT), which provides wireless/DHCP/etc. I have disabled wireless/firewall on my Actiontec router.
I've tried option 6 and 7 from »Verizon Online FiOS FAQ »What are the tradeoffs between the various router configurations
Neither work. The network comes up fine on my router, I'm able to connect to the internet and ping sites just fine. The actiontec is set up just fine and depending on the mode, I'm able to connect to the LAN port and browse the internet just fine. I can also log into the actiontec and ping google.com and everything works great.
I try to go boot up one of the Cisco DVR boxes and it just endlessly cycles (never boots up fully, just keeps rebooting).
If I reset the actiontec back to its defaults, release the WAN DHCP address from my router and plug the WAN back into the Actiontec, everything works fine (the Cisco DVRs boot up and work just fine).
I'm ripping my hair out here - The thing that is confusing is I have a non-DVR HD STB which I can plug in and it works fine (gets an IP address, has guide and VOD, etc) but if I plug a cisco in I get endless reboots *UNLESS* I am using *just* my actiontec.
Any ideas? |
