2 mice, 2 PC's, same problem.

yesterday my windows mouse started acting up and not tracking right.
moving from left to right at faster speeds, the cursor stops or goes to the top of the screen.
swapping it with another mouse i had the same problem. now the weird part.
going online with my Linux box i noticed it was doing the same thing!
both are wired USB optical mice.

any clue as to what i'm dealing with here?
thanks

[edit] trying the two on a third machine they still acted up. trying a third mouse (same model)
on my windows machine there is no problem.

i'm completely dumbfounded on how two would go bad at the same time.
only thing i can think of is a power surge, but i have a UPS and two quality PSU's.

My mouses start acting weird when they get dirty. Could be lint or dust on the sensor. Blow out or wipe off with a Q-tip or something.

What kind of surface are you using the mice on? If using a mouse pad, please provide a link to the exact mouse pad you're using.

Also, is there a reason you didn't disclose the exact brand and model of mice?
