April Fools 25% Speed Loss - Queens, NY

my packet loss and latency are fine, but my up/down speed have been cut by about 25% this past week. the speed was wavering high and average for a few weeks, but now it's always average even on a saturday morning. anyone else seeing their great speed go average of late?

I'm Standard 15/1 on a docsis2 modem.

tests using: testmy.net(wash,dc), speedtest.nyc.rr.com(4 hops away)

old high speeds 20/1, 30/1

new avg speed 15/.8, 15/.8

I find it particularly odd that RR's own speedtest is not as overinflated as it usually is. yes i do power cycle my modem and no - nothing has changed about my well secured PC.

If you are on standard 15/1 and ur tests show about 15/1 then not sure what you can complain about.

I'm not complaining to TWCable since the "average" speed it what i'm paying for, but most here have enjoyed a "high" speed 25% above that rate, so I'm just asking if anyone else in my area has noticed such a slowdown as I'm trying to determine if it's just me or systemic.

I think the speed tiers are losing PowerBoost as DOCSIS 3 and the new tiers are spreading. This has been going on for months in more areas across the country. So your 15/1 will be just 15/1.

testmy.net is not reliable I wouldn't trust them they can't handle my speeds.

patt - please don't hijack the thread - we can't all have >50mbps isps.

drew - that seems consistent with recent reports of docsis3 people getting more channels bound to them. do you think is pays for a Standard 15/1 to get a docsis3 modem now that caching may be off, or will it not really matter speed wise... i know it may improve latency a bit.
