Re: Toronto/GTA 7330/Stinger Remote Cataloging ProjectI have come across that thread in the past, thanks for the reminder.
I noticed another AECON truck at the 7330 I just mentioned. They were putting the meter base on the unit above the cabinet on the front. I forget that the little brown boxes have the electricity meter on them, so logically these need those as well. |

anyone have any insight for upcoming deployments south of Orleans near some of the new development at the edge of Navan Rd/Mer Bleue Rd? I believe further down into the centre of Navan there's a 7330. |

Some of that area is embargoed and you can't even get a Bell telephone line (and probably never will) due to a dispute between Bell and the developer. However towards navan rd and renaud rd the new development most certainly does have a couple 7330s. And if you move a little eastward tenth line/brian coburn developments are all either wired with 7330s or fibre right to the home.
However if you are in that area where you qualify for nothing at all with Bell it will never happen. There are no lines what so ever present there |

I'm in an area built in the early 90s that has Bell lines and Bell 6M DSL (right near Navan Rd and Mer Bleue Rd corner - Saphir Ave). Right to the north there's brand new development happening which is likely going to be all FTTH.
I believe there's an old Bell remote 100 feet away on my street (big brown box, pretty old and beat up looking), almost like a 7330 but obviously not it. |
|
|
Okay I know the area you speak of. As far as I know nothing is happening there this year |

Walked by these two boxes on Queensview Rd in Ottawa (45.35311, -75.655975) Google Maps Link (Street View is out of date) » goo.gl/maps/3onV6It looks like two compact power with 1xStinger and 1x7330 each on their own OWI. |

It looks like two compact power with 1xStinger and 1x7330 each on their own OWI. The one on the OPI labeled 506-1 is a 7330 and the one on 506-2 isn't a Stinger, it's a VSEM unit which is an extension of a 7330. |

We have a bunch of 7330 (white cabinets) being installed in London. Bell and Aecon have been here for about 2-3 months now in all parts of the west end.
They have finished Byron, working on Westmount it seems. I just added all the ones I know of so far to the list. |

What's this? It wasn't there before ( street view doesn't show it). It's now just to the right of that OPI. I checked DSL availability for the house closest to it, and it says 50mbps is available now. Though I'm a few blocks away and the Bell site still says I can only get 5mbps. |

You might not be hooked up to it if your hosue isn't served by that OPI, it's also possible that the qualification DB hasn't been updated yet. |
|
|
Yeah, there's another OPI in the block across the street from there, which I'm guessing is where my house is served from. Though my guess is they won't be putting a remote on that for a while since there's an old school on that block that just got torn down and there's supposed to be new housing going in there. So I doubt Bell's going to put anything there until the fate of that block is known for sure.
But at least it's nice to know that our neighbourhood isn't forgotten. |

The new block will be fed by FTTH with a CSP going in, so the existing copper serving elsewhere in the area will be of no consequence as to whether you get a 7330 or not. |

Alcatel-Lucent 7330 DSLAM Division Street, Oshawa, Ontario, L1G 5M4 Service Address is between Agnes and Elgin on Division Street Bell Technical Support just confirmed to me via telephone that I am on a 7330 DSLAM.
I know this probably doesn't mean anything because I can't show a picture of the DSLAM or identify its exact location... I hope if anyone from this area is curious this may help them some. For the record I have Fibe 50/10 Internet (runs between 50-65Mbps down and 10-11Mbps up) as well as Fibe TV.
Sorry if I am wasting anybody's time but I was excited to learn this and wanted to share. |

If it helps, according to the Bell Remote map posted on the first page, this area is about 850 - 900 metres from the central office. Map that I mean (you probably all know): » maps.google.com/maps/ms? ··· =feature |

Thanks! Does this look like a big 7330 beside the JWI, or is it something else? » www.google.ca/maps/@42.3 ··· oxug!2e0 |

That box to the left looks like a fibre distribution interface. |

It's a strange location (well, maybe not strange, but at least annoying :P).. TekSavvy has DSL 25 available, Start has DSL 50 available, but Bell only has 10-15mbit, depending on the street address. ?!?! Oh well.. |

The box to the left is an Fibnre Distribtuion Interface (FDI) it's used for fibre splices. |

I know that i asked this in the past in the bell posting area. I would like to know if anything is happening or going to happen for the King City, Ontario area? We are still on 6m service. no upgrades in area as of yet. |
|
1 edit |
If and when they do upgrade King City it will likely become either a 7330 Remote in certain areas or FTTH (either via conduit underground or via aerial). Bell's FTTN deployment ends this year and their FTTH deployment is already underway.
On the subject of this project it is still ongoing. I have seen several changes and updates to the Stingers/7330's and I will be updating it primarily for Richmond Hill and Markham.
I recommend and encourage the community to continue participating in this topic. This was originally started with the intention for potential real-estate owners to know which areas have access to FTTN and which areas do not (or at least to provide an approximate or closer look).
Also I noticed with the new map gui and interface I can no longer get street view or even satellite photos which was helpful previously. Does anyone know how to enable that for this current map? (Found it at the bottom under base map but still cannot see street view) |
