[Apps] Weird issue with Google Music Player

I have a Galaxy Nexus running OEM rom, rooted. My issue is with Google music player. Over the last week or so I have had an issue where the music player will randomly start playing at full blast from the speaker. I cannot replicate the issue, however it will happen at least once a day.

Once it happens I cannot close the player and pausing only works for a few seconds before playback starts again. I cannot force close the app, and turning down the volume does not actually work other than the on screen slider moves. The only thing that does work is removing the battery. The volume will be turned down to the lowest setting when the player app is loaded after the phone boots up again though.

I have cleared the cache, etc for the app, that did not help, nor did it make the problem worse. It's happened when in airplane mode at least one time that I am absolutely certain about, and at least 2 other times I am about 90% sure about.

Anyone else seeing this type of behavior from this particular app?
